Who we are
ChirpNChip makes the ChirpNChip apps for iPhone, Android, Apple Watch and Wear OS, and this website. Questions about privacy: support@chirpnchip.com.
What we collect in the apps
- Account details: your name, username, email address and profile photos.
- Golf activity: rounds, scores, handicap (including an index you enter), the clubs in your bag, leagues and tournaments you join, and Swing Lab measurements and still frames.
- Content you share: chirps (messages, photos and videos), comments and likes.
- Location: used for course search, the interactive map, weather and watch distances, to find nearby courses and measure distances while you play.
- Device information: a notification token if you allow notifications, a sign-in token for watches you connect, and basic app diagnostics.
- Support requests: what you send us, including course corrections.
What we collect on this website
- If you allow analytics, Google Analytics for Firebase records which pages you visit and basic device information so we can see what’s useful. Nothing is recorded if you decline, and you can change your choice any time from “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.
- Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser) to deliver and protect the site.
How we use it
- To run the app: scoring, distances, leaderboards, competitions, chirps and notifications.
- To power Cadd-E: shot details, your handicap and bag, the round for chat questions, and Swing Lab measurements and frames are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude), to generate answers. Your swing video stays on your phone.
- To answer support requests, fix course data, keep ChirpNChip safe, and understand how the app and site are used.
Who can see it
- Other members can see your profile (name, username, photo, handicap, saved chirps and bag). Buddies can also see your rounds and when you’re playing.
- Players in a round see that round’s scores and chirps. Members of a league or tournament see its standings.
Service providers
- We use trusted providers to run ChirpNChip: Google Firebase (accounts, database, storage, notifications, servers, hosting and analytics), Mapbox (maps), Apple WeatherKit (weather), Algolia (finding members by name) and Anthropic (Cadd-E). They process data on our behalf.
- We don’t sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account is open. When you delete your account, your profile and personal data are deleted straight away. Scores in rounds you played with others can stay on their scorecards without your personal details.
Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile, control each kind of notification, reset your stats, disconnect watches and delete saved chirps at any time in the app.
- Delete your account and personal data at any time in the app: Settings → Account → Delete account.
- To keep accounts safe and stop abuse, we keep short security records (such as unusual sign-ups, blocked actions and the network address used) for up to 180 days. Accounts that repeatedly break the Community Guidelines are limited for a while and, after a third time, suspended.
- You can ask for a copy of your data or a correction by emailing support@chirpnchip.com.
Children
ChirpNChip isn’t intended for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections and is stored with Google Cloud. Watch sign-in tokens are stored hashed and can be revoked from your phone.
Changes
If we make important changes we’ll update this page and let you know in the app.
